On September 8, 2025, His Majesty Edmund K. Silva II issued the Heritage Proclamation 2025. This historic call urges the people of Hawaiʻi to restore unity, protect heritage, and embrace the guiding spirit of Aloha as the Kingdom reaffirms its sovereignty.

On September 8, 2025, His Majesty King Edmund K. Silva II of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi wrote a powerful declaration known as the Heritage Proclamation 2025. This landmark statement serves not only as a reflection on Hawaiʻi’s past struggles but also as a bold vision for its future — one rooted in heritage, unity, and the divine spirit of Aloha.

The proclamation opens with the wisdom of Queen Liliʻuokalani, Hawaiʻi’s last historical reigning monarch, who taught that the balance between tolerance and judgment is as fine as a blade of pili grass. Building on her words, King Silva emphasizes that Aloha — the sacred practice of living in harmony with God, nature, and one another — is the foundation upon which the Kingdom must be restored.

While acknowledging the global rise of corruption, greed, and vanity, King Silva affirms that his sacred duty remains to his people, the ʻāina, and the natural resources of Hawaiʻi. The Heritage Proclamation 2025 reminds us that the true path forward lies not in foreign systems of control but in correcting past wrongs, restoring dignity, and embracing the Kingdom’s sovereignty.

The King recounts the painful history of Hawaiʻi’s overthrow and annexation, beginning with the 1887 Bayonet Constitution, the 1893 coup against Queen Liliʻuokalani, and the 1898 annexation by the United States. Despite these injustices, he affirms that Hawaiians remain the rightful heirs of their land and sovereignty. “Technically, I was not born an American citizen but a subject of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi,” King Silva declares, asserting the continuity of the Kingdom’s legitimacy.

In honoring the struggle for justice, the proclamation recognizes leaders such as Dr. Haunani-Kay Trask, whose tireless work for self-determination continues to inspire. It also reflects on the biblical truth that God can turn even acts of evil toward a greater good, using suffering as a path to strength, resilience, and redemption.

King Silva reaffirms that the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi was officially restored on November 22, 2002, and now calls for all islands and communities to unite. He urges the people to set aside grievances, embrace forgiveness, and recommit to their collective heritage. Decolonization, he stresses, is not only political but also spiritual, requiring faith, courage, and the active participation of every Hawaiian.

Closing the Heritage Proclamation 2025, King Silva delivers a timeless affirmation: “The Kingdom of Hawaiʻi is restored. And I am the King.” His words call Hawaiians and the world alike to rise together in unity, protect the sacred legacy of the land, and live fully by the guiding spirit of Aloha.
