The Lei Aliʻi serves as the Crown Prince and Head of the Privy Council (ʻAha Kūkākūkā Malu o ke Aupuni), embodying the sacred trust and responsibilities of the heir to the Throne. In this role, the Lei Aliʻi stands as the foremost support and closest confidant to the King, working hand in hand with Ka Mō‘ī to guide the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi with wisdom, foresight, and aloha.
As steward of the Privy Council, the Lei Aliʻi presides over its deliberations, ensuring that the collective counsel of the Aliʻi Manaʻo Nui, the First Voice of the Celestial Council, Position 3, and Position 4 is harmonized and aligned with the Crown’s vision. Through this leadership, he maintains balance and integrity in the Council’s work, safeguarding that decisions reflect both the sacred traditions of the Kingdom and the evolving needs of the lāhui.
Beyond the Council, the Lei Aliʻi plays a unifying role across the entire Kingdom, overseeing the coordinated operation of royal offices, Peace Centers, Medical Centers, Supreme Court, and all Crown Authorities, Kingdom Ministries, and Offices of Island Governance under the Crown’s authority. He acts as an intermediary between the King, the people, and the Kingdom’s global networks of governance, guidance, and spiritual stewardship — ensuring that aloha, pono, and lōkahi (unity) are upheld throughout the realm.
In this sacred position — reminiscent of the ancient Kuhina Nui, who shared in the counsel and burden of rule — the Lei Aliʻi embodies continuity, leadership, and service. He is entrusted not only with the welfare of the Kingdom and its people but also with carrying forward the spiritual lineage of the monarchy, ensuring that the Crown’s vision is manifested with compassion, diligence, and integrity for generations to come.
