The King’s Privy Council of the Kingdom—ʻKa Mōʻī ʻAha Kūkākūkā Malu o ke Aupuni

The King’s Privy Council of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi serves as a trusted advisory body within the Kingdom. Presided over by the Lei Aliʻi, the Crown Prince and Head of the Privy Council, this assembly guides and supports the King in matters of governance, vision, and responsibility to the lāhui.

The Council is composed of four esteemed members — the Aliʻi Manaʻo Nui, Lanny Sinkin; the Voice of Peace; Position 3, Steward of the Tree of Life Medical Centers; and Position 4, Steward of the Royal Administration and the Office of the Royal Family. Together with the Lei Aliʻi, their collective wisdom and experience uphold the sacred trust of leadership.

As voices of counsel, the members of the Privy Council strengthen the foundation of the Kingdom by offering thoughtful perspective and guidance, ensuring that decisions made by the Crown reflect both the enduring traditions and the evolving needs of the Hawaiian Nation.

CROWN PRINCE

Lei Aliʻi — The Crown Prince and Head of the Privy Council

His Royal Highness, Edmund Keli'i Silva, III

The Lei Aliʻi is the Crown Prince and serves as the head of The King’s Privy Council of the Kingdom (ʻKa Mōʻī ʻAha Kūkākūkā Malu o ke Aupuni), standing as the foremost support and confidant to the King. As heir to the Throne, the Lei Aliʻi upholds the continuity of royal leadership and the spiritual lineage of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi. In this sacred role — reminiscent of the ancient Kuhina Nui, who once shared in the counsel and burden of rule — the Lei Aliʻi provides guidance, balance, and stewardship within the Privy Council, ensuring that the will of the Crown is carried out with wisdom, compassion, and aloha.

Aliʻi Manaʻo Nui

Chief Advisor

Lanny Sinkin

Aliʻi Manaʻo Nui translates to "chiefly thought" or "chiefly ideas" in the Hawaiian language. The phrase refers to the wisdom, knowledge, and decision-making abilities associated with the aliʻi class, the ruling chiefs of ancient Hawaiʻi. It signifies the importance of their role in guiding and governing the people based on sound judgment and understanding.

Therefore, Aliʻi Manaʻo Nui encapsulates the idea of the chiefs' wisdom, their ability to make sound judgments, and the weight of their decisions on the well-being of the people and the land.

The Voice of Peace is both a sacred responsibility and a practical duty. They have the responsibility of guiding deliberation and the duty of ensuring order, fairness, and harmony within the Council’s proceedings.

The Voice of Peace is the foremost voice within the chamber, and as the outward voice of the Council itself, proclaiming its will to the Crown and to the realm. The office is both a trust and a kuleana (sacred responsibility), rooted in the Kingdom’s sovereignty and in the order that guides its governance.
