Acting as governors and mayors of their respective islands, these leaders serve as the Crown’s representatives, ensuring fair governance, cultural preservation, and the well-being of their communities. Their kuleana (responsibility) is to uphold pono (justice, balance) and aloha ʻāina (love for the land), maintaining harmony between the people, the land, and the Kingdom.
