King Edmund Keli'i Paki-Silva Jr.'s
Speech for The Journey of Reconciliation in Panama

We are honored to welcome His Royal Majesty King Edmund Keliʻi Paki-Silva Jr., the Hereditary King of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi, who speaks with authority for Indigenous and First Nations peoples worldwide. In his keynote at the Journey of Reconciliation Conference, he delivers a powerful call for truth, peace, and healing, exposing the centuries of oppression rooted in the Doctrine of Discovery and the global devastation caused by colonization and slavery. He condemns the misuse of God’s name to justify atrocities, contrasts religion with true spirituality, and lifts the examples of Indigenous leaders who gave their lives for freedom and unity. With resolve, he directs the Vatican and European powers to overturn the Doctrine of Discovery, issue apologies for crimes against humanity, and commit to lasting reconciliation. Framed in the Hawaiian principle of Ho‘oponopono—forgiveness and restoration—his royal proclamation is both a bold indictment of past evils and a vision for a just and peaceful future.

Presentation to The Parliament of Panama

His Royal Majesty King Edmund Keliʻi Paki-Silva Jr., the Hereditary King of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi, spoke on behalf of Indigenous peoples across the world. In this historic address to the Parliament of Panama, he confronts the injustices of colonization, from the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom in 1893 to the global devastation wrought by the Doctrine of Discovery. With both passion and solemnity, he calls for truth, reconciliation, and the overturning of these doctrines of oppression, urging world leaders, religious authorities, and royal houses to acknowledge past wrongs, issue apologies, and take concrete steps toward healing. His words are both a declaration of accountability and an appeal for unity under God, grounded in integrity, honor, and the restoration of dignity for all Indigenous nations.
